She was their eldest child. At the age of five her family moved to Atlanta, Georgia. In Atlanta she attended the Ashby Street Elementary School. Upon the passing of her mother she took on the role of caregiver for her younger four siblings, Welcome, John W. (Carl), Mamie and Doris. At the age of seventeen, Pauline joined Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church and was a member of the choir for a short period of time. A year later, at the age of eighteen, she married James A. Turner. The ceremony was performed by Reverend Jordan on April 3, 1938. They shared forty-five years of marriage together until his passing in 1983. During this union were born Geraldine Turner, Enuna Jean Turner andJames A. Turner, Jr. She leaves to cherish her memory: daughter, Jean Turner Lee (Alvin); son, James A. Turner, Jr. (Lula); grandchildren~ Velencia Paden, Valarie Hartmon, Tracey Cobb (David), Tonya Turner, Tandra Turner, Kenyata Turner, Yadonnis Tucker (Emmett), Al Lindley and Alvin Lee (Kaniya); great-grandchildren, Darius Hill, Paige Paden, Tiffany Cobb, David Cobb, Matthew Hartmon, Brandon Hartmon, Aliyah Hartmon, Aniya Turner , Amari Turner, Jada Tucker, Ethan Tucker, Courtney Lee, Jordan Lee and Jonathan Lee; sister Doris Barksdale; nieces, Carolyn Ozonsi and Edith Pace; nephew, Andre' Hill and a host of other family and friends.
