At an early age, she moved to Macon, Georgia with her parents. She attended Burdell Elementary School and Hudson High School. She joined the Saint Paul A.M.E. Church at the age of five. Irene was a dedicated member, founder and organizer of the Progressive Women's Club. She was a member of the One Hundred's Club, President of the Stewaraess Board #2 for several years, Phyllis Wheatly Club, and Gospel Choir. She was married to Andrew Barrow Turk for thirty-eight years. To this union three children were born. Socially, Irene was a member of Monsieur and Madams Social Club and His & Hers Social and Savings Club. Survivors include a devoted husband, Andrew Barrow Turk, Sr., of Macon, Georgia; a devoted daughter, Sharon Dianne Turk-Williams of Macon, Georgia; devoted son.s, Jerry Carlton Turk and Michael Morris Turk of Macon, Georgia; a stepson, Andrew B. Turk, Jr., of Macon, Georgia; one brother, Council Willis of Detroit, Michigan; one uncle, Alfred D. Green of Gray, Georgia; one aunt, Ruby Green of Gray, Georgia; daughter-in-law, Brenda G . Turk; a devoted daughter-in-law, Lydia M. Turk, and a step daughter-in-law, Sandra L. Turk, all of Macon, Georgia; a son-in-law, james A. Williams of Memphis, Tennessee; two brothers-in-law, john H. Tu rk of Macon, Georgia, and Charles S. Turk of Pittsburg, Pennsylvania; four sisters-in-law, josephine Turk of Macon, Georgia, julia Turk of Pittsburg, Pennsylvania, Billie Turk of Brooklyn, New York and jenny M.
