Barbara attended Columbus Public School System where she was involved in school activities and was a honor roll student. At the age of 16, she moved to Dayton, Ohio and attended Ohio Job Corp where she earned her high School Diploma accompanied with many awards and certificates. Barbara then moved to Atlanta, Georgia in 1987 where her family roots are. She held several jobs working for Roberts Furniture as an office manager, Colgate Palmolive as an Administrative Assistant, Her final job was with Wal-Mart where she was a department manager, known to all that she came in contact as Miss Barbara. Barbara was her mother's caregiver and made sure she wanted for nothing up until her demise. Barbara gave her life to Christ in 1996 and became a member of The Prince of Peace Ministry Outreach where she was a member of the Trustee Board, Board of Directors, and part-time secretary. She departed this life on Saturday, December 6, 2014 at Emory Crawford Long Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia. Barbara was preceded in death by: her father, Roland Thornton, Jr.; Brothers: James, Leonard, and Roland III; sister, Sandra Robinson; grandparents: Joseph (Dessie) Parham, Roland Thornton, Sr. and Alberta (Elijah) Brewster.
