 THEODORE E. TANN was born on January 26, 1944 and passed peacefully from this life on October 22, 2015. During his last days, his family and caregivers surrounded and supported him with love. Ted was born the second child of four children to Theodore C. Tann and Alyce Clayton Tann in New York City, New York, where he lived the majority of his life. Ted moved his family to Stamford, Connecticut and finally relocated and settled in Atlanta Georgia. 
While dedicating his life to helping others as a counselor of Odyssey House in New York City and as the .Director for Liberation House in Stamford, Connecticut, he contributed to the transformation of hundreds of men and women struggling with drug addiction. Once in Atlanta, he joined the staff at Georgia Regional Hospital and continued working in the field of drug rehabilitation. His most recent commitment, devotion, and fulfillment was being involved with the Department of Family and Children Services of DeKalb County. 
TED enjoyed life. He had tenacity for resolving situations few could conquer. Two outstanding pastimes for him was playing billiards and a good chess game. These two activities captivated the young and he was there to teach and share his skills to anyone wanting to learn. 
TED was preceded in death by: his parents, Theodore and Alyce Tann; and his sisters, Veronica Tann and Candyce Tann Brown. 
THEODORE is survived by: his brother, Melvin; sister-in-law, Jacqueline; and their two children, Chandler and Langston Tann; his lifelong companion and soul mate, Inez Tann; his daughters, Monique Tann and Michelle Mccarter; son-in-law, David McCarter; grandchildren, Shaniqua Turpin, Alycea Mccarter, David Mccarter III and Debbie Dingle; along with four great grandchildren; his dear and close friends, Althea Barnes and Rose Cadwell; and a plethora of cousins, friends, colleagues, and extended family.
