SUTTON, the seventh child of Lucillius and Mary Sutton, was born in McDuffie County, Georgia. At age 9, he joined ~Iount Carmel Baptist Church in Thomson, Georgia during the pastorate of Rev. G. W. Harrison. Because of his deep love for his church and his sincere admiration for his pastor, he adopted the name Reverend. He attended Atlanta public schools, Morehouse College and extended his theological training in Boston, Massachusetts. He was a veteran of World War I. Reverend Sutton joined Friendship Baptist Church shortly after the family moved. to Atlanta. and was very active in Sunday School and B. T. U. Afterthe death of Dr. E. R.
