Thanks to Providence Hospice, who provided comfort during his final days. Special thanks to our loving granddaughter, Tyler who tried to save "Papa" in those final minutes. Hugh Herman Suttle, Jr. was born to Hugh Herman, Sr. and Lucy Mae Marsh Suttle in LaFayette, Georgia. He was third born of ten children. 
Hugh attended Hill High School, and Tennessee State University, following in the footsteps of his older sister. 
He was drafted into the United States Army, serving during the Korean War; where he was honorably discharged. 
He met and married the love of his life "Lu," as he so affectionately called her, on December 29, 1968. To this union, one child was born. 
He began his civilian work with the United States Postal Service, and retired after thirty-five years of service. Hugh was a work-driven man, who embarked on another career with Marta, and retired after twelve years of service. 
Hugh and Lula joined Ben Hill UMC in 1976 under the leadership of the late Bishop Cornelius Henderson. He gave his time and talents to the Sanctuary Choir, CL Henderson Choir, Male Ushers Team, Youth Ministry, Communion Steward, the Finance Committee, and the Jewels and Partners Ministry. 
He was an active member of the Atlanta Quarterback Club, serving many years as a referee. 
Hugh was a gentle and kind man who loved his family, friends, and Ben Hill UMC. He left an indelible impression on everyone he encountered. 
Hugh is survived by: a loving and devoted wife of 44 years, Lula Snelson Suttle; one beloved daughter, Bridgette Antionette Suttle of East Point, Georgia; devoted granddaughter, Tyler Bre Pettway; six sisters, Maxine Stallings, Priscilla (Rev. Dr. Willie) Womble, Dorothy Mae Stamper of LaFayette, Georgia, Linda Sue Brundidge of Chattanooga, Tennessee, Lana (Greg) Moten of Chickamauga, Georgia and Sara Agnes Suttle of Atlanta, Georgia; two brothers, James Steve (Evonne) Suttle of Fayetteville, Georgia, and Frank Perry (Vivian) Suttle of LaFayette, Georgia; sisters-in-law, Susie B. Marsh of LaFayette, Georgia, and Alberta Hill of Los Angeles, California; brother-in-law, Alva (Linda) Snelson of Cleveland, Ohio; godsister, Burnis (Marshall) Lawson; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and his beloved church family. He was preceded in death by: his parents, and one brother, Joe Hill Marsh.
