" -Ecclesiastes 3 "A time to be born"- Mr. Robert ~~Bob" Smith was born on April 21 1922 in Americus, Georgia, to Mrs. Louise Green Smith and Mr: Robdrt Smith, Sr. He was the eldest of five children in his loving family. "A time to build up"- 1'Bob"wasaveteran of World War II who served for four years in the United States Army and received an honorable disd1arge. "A time to love"- Mr. Smith met the lovel~ Mattie Lois Scott, and on February 7, 1946, they were united in Holy Matrimony. The Smiths moved to Orlando in1946 and have been residents in the W~st Orlando community for 49 years. ~Labor, it is a gift of God" - In 1948, Mr. Smith was ve!Y fortunate to become a student- under the tutelege of M~. C. E. Mosley, who was teaching the masonrY. trade to veterans in Orlando. Mr. Smith learned his trade well and was a successful craftsman in his chosen field. He was kpown for his wonderful masonrY artwork in Ft Lauderdale, Miami~ The Bahamas, and around Orlando--most recently, at The Arena in downtown Orlando. The homes that he built are models of his artistry. "A time to gather"- The legacy he has le_ft behind tipifies that he was a strong-willed; jovial, and loving man who enjoyed making others laugh. He was very giving--sometimes too giving. The young and old loved Mr. Smith. The h~hest honor ne cherished was being "the king of his castle. Listening and singing gospel music was his greatpa_stime. Few knew i~ out he was also a Bible scholar who could quote the scriptures rrom his heart His favorite scripture was Psalms 23. "A time to die" - After a lifetime of receiving an abundance of love from his wife, children and family, Mr. Smith's last prayer to God was-, "Lord,_p_lease take me home with you." On Friday, November 18; 1995, he was translated from earthly labor to his eternal rewara.
