Bro. James W. Scott, Sr., was born April 12, 1928 in Atlanta, Georgia to the late Dock, Sr. and Nancy Scott. 
He attended the Atlanta Public Schools, served as a paratrooper with the U.S. Army. Bro. Scott was joined in Holy rnatrimony to Catherine Thomas Scott and to this union was born four children; Carol Scott-Harrell, James W. Scott, Jr., Stephen A. Scott and the late Kimberly L Scott. 
Bro. Scott was a loyal member of Turner Monumental A.M.E. Church and a faithful servant as a member of Steward Board #2, Male Chorus~ the Lay Organization, and the Finance Committee. 
Prior to his illness Bro. James Scott Sr. was a long-time employee of the Fulton County Daily Report Company. 
As the Creator plants in His garden, He picked from it, Bro. James W. Scott, Sr. on June 20, 1995. He leaves to cherish his loving memory, a devoted wife, Mrs. Catherine Scott; daughter, Mrs. Carol Scott Harrell; two sons, Mr. James W. Scott, Jr. , and Mr. Stephen A. Scott, daughter, Kimberly L. Scott who preceded him in transition; three grandsons, Kennis "Rashad" Harrell, Terrison Taylor and Jeremy Daniels; sisters, Mrs. Rosetta Smith and Mr. & Mrs. Ainsley (Beulah) Stewart, Springfield,Mass.; brothers and sisters-in-law, Mr. & Mrs. William T.(Gloria) Jackson, Mrs. Maxine Stovall, Drs. Willie & Jean Manning, Mr. & Mrs. Thomas (Dorothy) Sheffield and Mrs. Vera Goolsby; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. 
So proud, so strong, so private, so gallant, so determined, so daring, so fearless, so confident was this man as he traveled his unpaved road of life. 
So beautiful and exquisite is the road he paved. So indelible the mark of family unity he left So magnificent to his family, was this man named Scott. He always shared a smile, a handshake or a nod of kindness. He deserves recognitiion for the foundation he laid for his family. He created a family bond that will remain forever.
