Ward, Officiating Minister Johnny Toney, Eulogist Reverend Henry Carey Scales, Sr., ninety one, was born on March 27, 1922 in Gwinnett, Georgia, the third child to the late Reverend Carey Richard Scales and Odessa Webb Scales. On February 18, 2014 at 2:50 p.m., while a resident at the Heritage Healthcare Facility in Lilburn, Georgia, Reverend Scales succumbed to health care challenges and passed on to a better life. He was the last survivor of ten siblings: Timothy, Florine, Flossie, Lamar, Frankie, Charlie, Cleo and Leo (twins), and Roger. "' Reverend Scales attended Ne"\v Bethel School in Gwinnett County. He served in the Army in World War II and "\vas honorably discharged in 1946. Much of his working career was in service to the DeK.alb County School System where he retired in 1988. Having been introduced to the Lord as a child, Reverend Scales became a Deacon in early adulthood at the Macedonia Baptist Church, Lithonia, Georgia. Answering the call to the Ministry, he was ordained at I\1acedonia in 1963 and ultimately became Pastor there in 1968. He served in that capacity for twenty-four plus years. He then became Pastor Emeritus and continued his ministerial service until 2005. In addition to being the shepherd of Macedonia, he also pastured Calvary Grove Baptist Church, Decatur, Georgia; Corinth Baptist Church, Social Circle, Georgia, and Raymond Hill Baptist Church, Snellville, Georgia. Reverend Scales was united in marriage to Mary Dean Preston in June, 1943 and from that union six children were born. They were together until Mary's transition in 1979. He is survived by six children, Henry Jr., Gloria, Bobby (Edith), Alonzo Robert (Wilma), and Harvey (Linda); twelve grandchildren, LaMetrs, Felica, Henry III, Yolanda, Bobby II, Shannor, Kelline, I
