Cumberland W Posey, Jr. and Ethel Truman Posey in Homestead, Pennsylvania. Herfather wasfounder and co-owner of the famous Homestead Grays Baseball Team. Both of her parents served on the Homestead School Board. 
Beatrice attended elementary and secondary schools in Homestead, Pennsylvania. She matriculated at Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvaniafor one year, then went to workfor the Navy Department in Washington, D. C. While employed by the Navy Department, she was selected to demonstrate the newly developed gas mask in a training film which was made for the Armed Forces during World War II. Beatrice left the Navy Department to return to college at Howard University, in Washington, D. C. She received her B.A. Degree in 1945. She attended the City College of New York for post-graduate work and was a certified social worker. 
Beatrice retiredfrom the New York City Board ofEducation, Bureau ofAttendance on November 1, 1982, and moved to Atlanta, Georgia to be close to her beloved daughter, Nancy. Her parents Cumberland and Ethel Posey and her three sisters, Ethel Posey Maddox, Mary Posey Flagg and Anne Posey Harper preceded her in death. 
While living in New York City, she was a member ofthe original Moles, the Manhattan Board ofthe Urban League, and the Hobnobbers. In Atlanta, she became affiliated with the Church ofthe Incarnation and served on the Board ofTrustees ofSenior Citizens ofMetropolitan Atlanta. Beatrice was the Human Services Advocate for Cascade House, a YWCA shelter for homeless women and children, from its opening in February, 1989 until her retirement in October, 1994 due to ill health. She was a member ofDelta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. and the KisKis Bridge Club. 
She is survived by her daughter, Nancy Anne Boxill, Fulton County Commissioner; two nephews Truman Posey Brown and Michael Flagg; her beloved cousins, Constance Posey Randall, Evan and Mary Baker and children; Howard and Dianne Mosby and their sons, and a host offriends.
