rne1nber of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People; Member of the \Vhite Rose Chapter No. 1 Order of Eastern Stars, Branchville, S.C. when:~ s]~.e served as a Past \Vorthy Matroq~ , and is also past president of the \Vomen ' s Auxiliary of th~ -Lovely B i IJ ~Baptist Association . 
 
In 2002, Mrs. Owens represented the state of South Carolina as the '"'Oldest Working Arnerican'~ at the Prime 
 
.'' Time Awards in Washington ~ D.C. The Prime Time Awards was sponsored by Experience Works .
