Friday, june 26, 2009 12:00PM Shanon was the second of three children born to Ina Christina Moreland Burke. In 1981, she was blessed by the union of her mother to Bernard Burke, who became the father she always wanted-the one she called "my daddy". Shanon entered into life on May 31st, 1970 in Atlanta, Georgia. She matriculated through the Atlanta Public School system and attended Therrell High School. She then went on to become a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), which was just one of the many ways she cared for others. Shanon was the most caring person anyone ever met. She was a mother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend. She took in any person and any animal that needed a home, from stray dogs to hurt birds to friends having hard times. She was a spiritual person, who loved the Lord and taught her children to love Him, too. In 1986, she was baptized by Rev. Jerry D. Woodfork at Linden C.M.E. Church. On June 18th, 2009, Shanon left this life for a better, less stressful one in Heaven. Although she is no longer with us in body, she is forever with us in our hearts and minds for she left an indelible mark on us all through her wonderful spirit. To cherish her memory, Shanon leaves: her mother and father: Ina and Bernard Burke; three children: Tierrell DeAndre Moreland, Keion Noreal Johnson, and Kemon Noreal Johnson; companion of 18 years: Noreal Arsenio Johnson; siblings: Mr. Robert Andre Moreland (Jennifer), Miss. Frances Elizabeth Burke, Mr. Bernard Timothy Grier (Mercedes), and Mr. Renard Monta Burke; aunts: Mary Moreland and Melba Weems; nieces: Jazmine Andrea Moreland and Jordan Alyssa Moreland; nephew: Robert Andre Moreland, Jr.; and a host of cousins, relatives, and friends. rder ofOfJe!VlCe Prelude........................................ ... ........ ... .................Ms. Myra Walker Processional Instrumental. ....................................................... Since you died, I feel like my life just fell apart, but without the help of my family, I wouldn't have ever made it through your death. Daddy made me understand that you are in a peaceful place now, and you don't have to worry about anything at all. I feel so bad, and all I have is my memories of you. Just looking at you was fun because I loved you so much. I've always loved you and I will never ever stop loving you, not even one minute of my entire life. Sincerely, Your .son Kemon My mom was respectful of everyone. She was lovable and loved to have fun. She taught me a lot, like how to cook. She took care of me, and she cared for a lot of people. I loved my mom ever since I was a baby and nothing has changed about me being a momma's boy. I loved all the times we had with our mom. I remember the time we went to Disney World, and she almost didn't go on any rides. She let us have our fun and paid for the whole trip. That was so sweet of Momma. I thank her all the time. Keion For Shanon: That's the Way God Made Her! May 31st was the day he blessed us And today I stand, wishing she never left us I think about times we had together Riding in my aunt's Duster or dividing up the candy we bought from Mr. Bill Listening to New Edition or enjoying some other thrill She had a heart of gold and was as gentle as a lamb But mess with her family and she became like a ram That's the way God made her! Her caring nature did cause her some problems But today we leave it to our master, for he knows how to solve them. My cousin never saw an animal she did not care for From dogs to cats, cats to dogs, gerbils and birds She loved them all She was raised by women witl1 many talents Her skills were oh so good No one could resurrect a VCR like Shanon could That's just how God made her! Shanon had a big heart, welcoming anyone in If you fell on hard times, you had a bed at the Moreland Inn Many days and nights we gathered around We talked, shopped, grilled out and boogied down We called each other "my cousin", as if we had no name Don' t mess witl1 one because all would come running and we did it with no shame That's the way God made her! We will miss her so, of this you must know Yes one of the "cousins" is gone But forget her not, our love for her shall never leave us alone So many memories of Shanon rush over me I thought I'd name a few And if you knew her for half a second, I bet you have some too ... That's the way God made her!
