They lived on lee Street for many years. In seven years, a baby girl, Janie, was born on June 3, _ 1917. Prior to Janie's birth, there were four children : Leona, Joel, John Robert, Jr., and Cornelious. She was a graduate of Booker T. Washington High School in 1935. She then furthered her education at Morris Brown College . Her travels were extensive- Germany, Japan, etc. Sewing , singing and dancing were her hobbies throughout her life.
