Moody, Jr. and Rhonda F. Wilcox Moody. He graduated from Mount Zion Elementary School, Morrow High School and Morehouse College where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Health and Physical Education. He was an outstanding high school and college studenUathlete. At Morrow High School, William lettered in football and baseball. He was an All-city and All-state selectee at strong tackle. In 1987, William helped lead the Morrow Mustangs to the Georgia Division-AAAA State Championship. In 1992, he was a member of Morehouse's SIAC Championship football team and was selected to the All-conference team as a strong tackle. His fierce competitive spirit led him to choose coaching as his life's advocation . While still a student at Morehouse, William assisted in the management of the girl's and boy's summer softball, baseball and basketball programs in Kaiserslautern, Germany and served as assistant coach of the Vogleweh boys' basketball team that won the internationalchampionship in Italy. As assistant head coach/ offensive line coach/defensive coordinator, William was instrumental in building a tradition of football excellence at North Clayton High School. In 1996 and 1997 nine of North Clayton's defensive starters were named to the All-Clayton County football team . In 1998 his defense was ranked second in Region 4-AAA, allowing only 8 points per game. In 1997 two ofWilliams's offensive linemen garnered all-state honors. William entered the Clayton County School System at Northcutt Elementary School working with 1st and 2nd graders. Although his teaching career moved him to North Clayton High School, William often returned to Northcutt to visit, mentor and read to the kindergarten classes. William was a member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity where he served as Chapter President, Director of Social Action/Service and Overseer of the intake process for prospective members. He was the presiding member of the Morehouse Player/Coach Committee, council member of the Morehouse Prospective Student Seminar and an active participant in the Morehouse Youth Mentoring Program. William is survived by his wife of three years, Helena Leshay Douglas Moody; two sons, Patrick Shannon Moody and Jaiden Wesley Moody; parents, Major (Retired) Horace W. Moody, Jr. and Rhonda F. Wilcox Moody; sister, Crystal Amanda Moody; grandparents, Carolyn Hunter Moody, Carol Roderick Wilcox, and Bertha Wilcox; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
