My friends, I'll say it clear, I'll state my cas of which I'm certain, 
I've lived a life that sfull; 
I've traveled each and every by-way, But more, much more than this, I did it my way. 
Regrets, I've had a fe w, but then again, too fe w to mention, 
I did what I had to do and saw it through without exemption. 
And to think I did all that, and may I add (not in a shy way), Oh, no, no, no not me, I Did It M y Way.

Ms. Lois Middlebrooks was born on June 15, 1919 in Atlanta, 
 
Georgia to the late Mr. and Mrs. Dock (Lula) Middlebrooks. She 
 
was preceded in death by her only brother, Mr. John Dawson. 
 
She received her early elementary education in the Atlanta 
 
Public School System and graduated from Booker T. 
 
Washington High School in 1939. She pursued her post- 
 
secondary educational goals at Morris Brown College and 
 
continued further studies at Columbia University and New York 
 
City College. She was a versatile person and attended several 
 
educational workshops in various cities and states. She traveled 
 
extensively throughout the U.S.A. and to Paris, France. 
 
She was not content with her educational activities, and sought 
 
outside activities, where she was afforded several small parts in 
 
several movies, including "Driving Miss Daisy." She was a person 
 
never short on words, or jokes, and was known to be "somewhat savvy." 
 
In her pursuit of happiness and contentment, she was married 
 
three times, and never conceived any children. However, she 
 
adopted numerous of her students, and made sure that she left 
 
her mark on each that she taught in her typing or bookeeping 
 
classes. She enriched the lives of many students with her zest for 
 
perfection in the business field, and provided many "first" jobs for 
 
students in the Metropolitan Atlanta area. 
 
She was active in Mt. Olive Baptist Church during her early 
 
days, and served in numerous capac.ities. She was a member of 
 
1:. 
 
several local organizations, including the Atlanta Branch NAACP 
 
and the East Atlanta Neighborhood Association. 
 
Her "sassy" personality will be missed by some , however, the 
 
good work which was done while here will always be cherished 
 
by those lives she made an impact. 
 
She entrusted one of her former students to care for her during 
 
her declining years. Ms. Glenavary A. Rasheed (David T. Howard 
 
Class of 1965), cared for her and provided the family that she 
 
never had. She adopted four children , Gustaveous H. Rasheed, 
 
U.S. Navy, Japan, Ms. Germaine and Gabrielle, and Gihad 
 
Rasheed. She was further overjoyed by the birth of two great- 
 
grandchildren, Ameenah and Niemah Rasheed. 
 
Ms. Middlebrooks refused to accept her illness, however, she 
 
was overjoyed that there were people there who provided 
 
excellent medical (Grady Hospital Oncology Staff/Radiation), 
 
and personal care, which was second to none by Ms. Janice 
 
Cash-Johnson and Ms. Dorothy Everhart, and Ms. Jackson. 
 
The great class of 1939 aid not forget her, nor did they exclude 
 
her from their social calendar. She enjoyed her last Christmas 
 
Class Reunion function in 1995, and was still reminising during 1997 ...
