Dolly Esther Payne McCritty Massaquoi was tenderly called home to rest with the Lord Almighty on August 5th, 2012 at the age of 75. She was born in Monrovia, Liberia in Mountserrado County,

on October 31, 1936 to the union ofTaty Jacob Payne and Lily Kesiah Witherspoon Payne. She was the third of twelve children born to this union. 
 
I 
 
She obtained her elementary education from the Bassa Community School operated by Mrs. Ora Horton, before enrolling at St. Teresa's Convent, where she received her high school diploma in 
 
I 
 
1955. In 1956 Dolly matriculated at the University of Liberia and graduated in 1959 with a 
 
Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemistry. In 1998, long after raising her children, she return:~Q to

the University of Liberia and obtained a Master of Science Degree in Educational Administrati~n. 
 
Dolly's work experience commenced in 1954 as a technical student at the Bureau of Lan~f'and

Mines, presently called the Ministry of Lands Mines and Energy. She taught shorthand at the,

In 1961 she joined Trinity Cathedral Episcopal Church after her first marriage and served as the 
 
I 
 
Treasurer of the Sunday school. From 1963-1967 she became a member of the St. John Episcopal 
 
Church, in Buchanan, Grand Bassa County; from 1967-1978 she joined St. Martin-on-the-Mount Episcopal Church in Yekepa, Nimba County. She served as the church treasurer and the vice

president of the local Episcopal Church Women (ECW); she returned to St. John's Episcopal Church

in Monrovia, serving as member of the usher board, President of ECW Advisory Council, and 
 
I 
 
secretary of the Dorcas Sisters Organization. In 2001 Dolly affiliated herself with the Grace United Methodist Church in Arlington, Texas, United States of America. There she served as the secretary of 
 
the Grace United Methodist Church Women organization (GUMCW) and secretary of the Exodus 
 
I 
 
Methodist Women. In 2002, she was a co-founder and Secretary of the Liberian Senior Citizen 
 
Association (LISCA) in Texas, USA. In 2006, Dolly returned to her beloved St. Thomas Episcopal 
 
I 
 
Church where she later underwent training to become a certified Lay Reader- a position she held until her demise. Dolly was, furthermore, a significant member and contributor to the Senior 
 
I 
 
Citizens and YWCA organizations of Liberia. 
 
Dolly E. Payne McCritty-Massaquoi was fortunate to have married t-vyf~e. She was ad
