MRS. ROSA WAI..J{ER MAXEY was born in Selma, Alabama, January 18, 1936 to the late Quintella Sturdivant. Attended St. Elizabeth school and finished Hudson High School in Selma, Alabama. She graduated from Xavier University in New Orleans, Louisiana with a Bachelor of Arts Degree. Later became certified in Education from Alabama State University.. 
Mrs. Maxey worked for the Fathers of St. Edmund at the Edmundite Mission for many years before pursuing her educational career. She worked in the Dallas County School System for many years. Then came to the Selma Public School System where she worked at Clark Elementary School and Meadowview Elementary School where she retired. Mrs. Maxey was a member of the Alabama Education Association and National Education Association Retired Teachers Organizations. 
Her survivors includes, one son ,Scott A. Maxey of Selma, Alabama; a devoted Nephew, Walter Walker of Chicago, Illinois; Step-father, M. William Sturdivant, Selma, Alabama; Step-sister, Sara Ann Miller of Baltimore, Maryland; Step-brother, William Sturdivant of Selma; Sisters-in-law, Deloris Walker of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Frances M. Headen and Izetta M. Maull, S~lma, Alabama. A host of nieces, nephews and friends.
