Leon Matthews Presiding OBITUARY Taz.anya deAnn (Tee) Maddox, third child ofAubrey and Betty Jessie Maddox, was born on January I4, I975; she graduated to glory on May 4, I993 at Egleston Children's Hospital. Tee had a special love for God, the church, family, school and friends. She followed all the steps of her Christian journey. She was baptized as an infant and became a full member of Ben Hill United Methodist Church after completion of confirmation training. Tee served the church through membership in the Cherub, Children and Youth Choirs for I4 years and as Sunday School Class presidentfor three years. She was recognized as one ofBen Hill's "Young Ladies of Distinction" at its annual banquet in November I992. She firmly believed in the potential for good in all people. Tee always tried to encourage everyone to feel good about themselves and to seek to grow to their fullest potential as TOTAL humanbeings. Tee enjoyed life and all of its challenges and was determined, in the ninth grade, to become Valedictorian of her class. This she accomplished. Among her other major accomplishments were: Governor's Honors Finalist and participant at Valdosta State; North Georgia Winner of the McDonald's Black History Makers of Tomorrow; Semi-finalist for the Academic Incentive Award in Language Arts; Miss Junior I99I-92; Second Attendant to Miss Harper 1992-93; recipient ofmany debate, speech and music awards. She was a member of the Chorus, a Varsity Cheerleader, a member of the BETA Club, MU Alpha Theta, NFL (Debate) and National Honor Society; and a debater and orator to name just a few areas of affiliations and participation. Tee's service to people was rendered through C.UR.E. (leukemia and cancer support groups for children) Youth Leadership and inspirational soloistfor many occasions. Tee desired to major in English and minor in Journalism. She was accepted at Clark Atlanta University, Emory, Judson, Morris Brown, Fort Valley State and Oglethorpe Colleges & Universities, with financial awards from AKA Sorority, Ben Hill UM.C., Emory and Oglethorpe; others are pending. Tee leaves to cherish her memory, along with her parents, two brothers, Eric M. and Kirk J. Maddox ofAtlanta; grandmother, Mrs. Susie Harris Jessie of Columbus, Georgia; three aunts, Mrs. Joyce (Charles) Zachery, Mrs. Anne K. Jessie, both of Atlanta; Mrs. Aileen Cole of Columbus, Georgia; one uncle, Rev. Richard A. (Iris) Jessie of Columbus, Georgia; six great aunts, Mrs. Flora Reid and Mrs. Florence Carson, Atlanta, Georgia; Mrs. Beulah Coleman, Macon, Georgia; Mrs. Grace Kilgore, of St. Louis, Missouri; Mrs. Lucile Harris, and Mrs. Margie Washington, Fort Valley, Georgia; three great uncles, Mr. Amos & Tillman Harris of Columbus, Ohio; Mr. Willie 0.
