LONZY EDWARDS, OFFICIATING ((:Jlutcliings Services" OBITUARY The Master is come and calleth for thee John 11:28 On Monday, August 20, 1990 near the 9:30 A.M. hour, our beloved Mrs. Lula Mae Purnell Life stepped beyond the final curtain into eternal rest. Mrs. Life was born on December 22, 1912 in Macon, Georgia, the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Dempsey Purnell, Sr. She attended the Public Schools of Bibb County and was graduated from the then Hudson High School. She did her undergraduate studies at Tuskegee Institute and Savannah State College. Her life's work consisted of teaching in the Bibb County Public School system, serving as musician for several churches in the Macon area, seamstress, milliner and beautician for this area. Religiously she accepted Christ and was baptized in the Mt. Moriah Baptist Church in 1926 under the pastorate of Rev. W. M. Hall. At this church she sang in the Junior and Senior Choir and was one of the organizers of the M. A. Richardson Club. Mrs. Life was united in holy matrimony with Mr. Andrew Thomas Life in the year of 1936. She was a most devoted companion to her husband. Lula, as she was called by her many friends, has been missed in active life since her health failed. She leaves to mourn her homegoing: a devoted husband of 54 years, Andrew T. Life; two sisters, Ruth Purnell Groce of Macon, GA and Geneva Purnell Williams of Jamaica, NY; one brother, Dempsey Purnell, Jr. of Macon, GA; one brother-in-law; one sister-in-law and a host ofother relatives and friends.
