Tuesday, June 12, 2007 - 1:00 P.M. - (Hius W:lfornlfill' s @lfa:pel 1315 Gus Thornhill, Jr. Drive East Point, Georgia 30344 The Reverend Darryl Gause Officiating Luther Lamar, Sr. affectionately called "Joe Louis," was born to the late John Henry Lamar and Mae Lamar Jefferson on March 20, 1948 in Atlanta, Georgia. He departed this life peacefully and quietly on Thursday, June 7, 2007 after an extended illness. He was preceded in death by one loving sister, Billye and one brother, Johnnie. He leaves to cherish his memory: a loving wife of 26 years, Cornelius "Mac" Lamar; four children, Mr. and Mrs. Reginald (Stephanie) Birdsong of White Plains, Georgia, Mr. and Mrs. Luther (Lisa) Lamar, Jr. of Fayetteville, Georgia, Mr. and Mrs. Preston (Lataunya) Wimbish of Ellenwood, Georgia and Ms. Miriam Lamar of Atlanta, Georgia; seven grandchildren, Pierre, Myles, Reginald, A'liyah, Kelvin, Dawan and K'yanna; one sister, Mr. and Mrs. Robert (Carrie) Arnold; three brothers, Oscar Lamar "Smokie", Willie J. Lamar "Bay-Bay" and Howard Jefferson "Junior"; and a host of other close relatives and friends. God saw you were getting weary So He did what He thought was best He came and stood beside you And whispered, "Come And Rest" You gave no one a last farewell, Not even a good-bye, You were gone before we knew it, And only God knows why. Although your smile is gone And your hands we cannot touch. We thank God for precious memories Of the one we love so much. .. ~..
