"J.P." was born to Zachari and Rosa Jones on March 7, 1916, in Evans County, Georgia. His early years were spent in Evans County. As a young man he moved to Savannah. Upon moving to Savannah he joined Bethleham Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Stell. He later moved his membership to Clifton Baptist Church, where he was an active member until his death. A retiree, "J.P." was employed by National Gypsum Company for over 30 years. He enjoyed outdoor activities-fishing and hunting were his favorite. "J.P." will be greatly missed by his family and all he came in contact with. He is sUIVived by his children, Cledith Ling (Peny) of Savannah, GA, Vancilla Eason (Joe), Catherine Lewis (Sylvester), Marian Corbin (Clyde) and Paulette Davis (Bernard), all ofAtlanta, GA, Cynthia Bryant (Charles) of Savannah, GA, James Edward Jones of Jacksonville, FL, Michelle Curtis (Jacques) of Raleigh, NC, Carl Jones (Beverly), Alexeev Vershone Jones of Macon, GA, Sandra Washington and Clara Hall, both ofSavannah, GA; a host ofgrandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
