Minister Kennedy James --INTERMENT-WASHINGTON MEMORY GARDENS (Following Service) cSainf 1s Begend In the small town of Batesville, Mississippi, Durmon Z. and Mary Jackson were blessed by God wi~h the birth of the fourth of six children. His name was ABRAHAM, born on November 22, 1918. Seeking a better life, the family moved to Chicago in 1923. Still being blessed by th~ Lord, he was baptized in 1930 by his father, the late D.Z. Jackson. Abraham attended Forrestville Elementary and DuSable High School; Morehouse College; Garrett Evangelical Theological Seminary and Pittsburgh Theological Seminary. In the year of 1944 he married the late Harriett Coskrey. They were blessed with two sons: Darrell and Duane. On April12, 1951 he was elected Pastor of Liberty I3apt~t Church. Pastor spent 43 active years in the church and lived the life God's Holy Word required of one who had a committed life in Christ. Through the vicissitudes of life, he was never too busy, always finding time to listen. A believer in prayer, love, hope, and tolerance, he recommended them all to family, friends, neighbors, and anyone who crossed his path. ACCO:MPLISHMENTS:. Faculty Member and Advisor, Progressive National Baptist Convention, and Faculty Member, Chicago Baptist Institute Chicago for more than 40 years. RECENT ACCO:MPLISHMENTS: Development of Liberty Commons, a major senior citizens housing complex. AWARDS: NAACP, Operation P.U.S.H.-(Minister's Citation), DuSable High School Hall of Fame, Adoption Information Services of Chicago, Mahogany Foundation, Boy Scouts of America , Morehouse College Alumni Association, Martin Luther King, Jr. Board of Preachers at Morehouse College School of Religion and numerous others~ TRAVELS: Europe, Mid-East Oerusalem, Israel), India, Haiti. He encountered blossoms of happiness and joy, one of which was manifested in the marriage to Lady Elizabeth in 1966. God granted a special desire and added to this union, two daughters: Gloria and Jasmine. Pastor Jackson made his transition from this life of uncertanity into everlasting joy, peace, and tranquility on Sunday, July 3, 1994 at 12:35 p.m.~ EHS Trinity Hospital. He was cared for by his much loved and devoted physicians, Dr. Clyde Phillips and Dr. Jacques Fourcand; Chris and the entire Michael Reese CSU.
