Robert Lee WclS born on September 22, 191 S and departed this life on Tuesday, November 18, 2003. In the early 20's Robert Lee's family moved to jacksonville, Rorida where he was educated in the Public School system. Aftl!r the death of his father, Robert Lee left,school to assist his mother with the raising of his fave younger siblings. Robert Lee worked diligently to support them, often laboring long hours and sacrificing his own enjoyment for their well being. To this day, the family continues to express continued gratitude for his selfless actions. Robert married the late Alberta Holmes on january 6, 1942. To this union, four children were born. In the late 1940's the family relocated to the state of New York. Robert Lee was employed as a Merchant Marine for most of his adult life. This exciting career allowed him to travel around the world at least three times. Robert Lee retired in the early 1980's as a steward after 40 years of service. Robert Lee accepted Christ at an early age; He was always active in Church,activities. As a youth he was a member of the Fountain Chapel AME Church in Jacksonville, Flor~ ida, In the 1960's Robert became a member of the Washington Heights Church of Christ where he WclS a long term member of the Finance Committee. Robert Lee provided tireless service to his church community until he and Alberta relocated to Homerville, Georgia in 1979. Robert Lee continued his Christian service as member of the Homerville Church of Christ until failing health necessitated his move to jacksonville, Florida in 1998. Robert Lee's dedication to Christ WclS so strong that he continued his Christian service by becoming an active member of the Westside Church of Christ in jacksonville, Florida. It was in jacksonville that he met and married Freada Foston on October 30, 2000. Freada Foston Hutchins was a devoted and faithful Christian wife until he departed this life on Tuesday, November 18. 2003. Robert Lee leaves to cherish his memories: His devoted wife Freada. one son Robert. Jr. (Dequese) of Douglasville, Georgia, three daughters, Elizabeth Mason (Paul) of Fayetteville, North Carolina, Gwendolyn Bethea (Floyd) of Brandon, Florida and Shirley Hutchins of Tampa. Florida. Robert Lee was preceded in death by his brother Earlis C. He has four sisters who will continue to reminisce the great times and good memories had by all; Elouise Denmark. Dena Hutchins and Alvesta Williams of jacksonville, Florida and Tabitha Portee of Palm Coast. Florida. Robert Lee has 12 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and a host of adoring nieces, nephews, cousins. stepchildren and extended family members.
