The Heavenly Father had gone To prepare a place for her. He came back as He hadpromised, On Apri/23, 2005 at the Brian Center- Hertford North Carolina And took Essie 11MaChick"to her Eternal Home. Essie Ccrine Rumble Hurdle, affectionally known as "MaChick" or "Miss Essie" was the second of nine children born to the late Eakie L Rumble and Maggine Perry Rumble on September 20, 1907 in 0 Edenton, North Carolina (Green Hall Community). She attended the B old Green Hall School. At a tender age of 12, Essie accepted Jesus Christ as her personal I savior and joined the Warren Grove Missionary Baptist Church. She T remained an active member of this church until the family moved to the Center Hill Community in I939. During that same year she lJ became a member of Center Hill Missionary Baptist Church where she A remained an active and faithful member until her health began to fail. She was honored and proud of being the oldest living member of R Center Hill Church. y During her early years, Essie did domestic work, farm work, and child care. She would proudly say "some of the children I baby sat are now over eighty (80) years old " In December 1930, she was united in marriage to the late Miles lester Hurdle. From this union six children were born, with only two surviving. She was a devoted wife and mother. Everlasting in her memory will be a devoted loving daughter, Emily Hurdle Rountree (Winston) of Edenton, NC and a loving son, Carroll L Hurdle of Windsor, NC; one brother, Willie A. Rumble of Newport News, Va.; an adopted daughter, lois M. Stepney (lee) of Edenton, NC; a foster brother, Selmo Perry (louise) and two cousins who were childhood friends and playmates (Hallie Morning and Maggie Simpson). There are seven grand children; five great-grand children; sixty-five nieces and nephews, and ahost of other relatives and friends whom she loved dearly.
