Young Funeral Home Staff Recessional \1 eN<-- p-.eL 7::>-h:di:; I l ~~~tt~ Obituary {_fJlt6. 9dae 1fatclier ((})(){{) On Monday, March 5, 2007, the trumpet sounded for Ruth (Doll) at the age of 90. Born November, 10, 1916 in Union Springs, Alabama to Ed Walton Hudson and Cora Ann Smith. From this union seven children were born, five daughters and two sons, Lucile, Hattie, Rosanna, Ruth and Delia; sons Charlie and Walton. All preceded her in death. After Cora Ann's death, Ed Walton later married Flora McCunn and one child was born, Anna. Ruth married at an early age to Algie Lee Hatcher, from this union eight girls and three boys were born. Daughters, Dorothy Greer, Mildred McRae, Ethel (James) Myers, Lisa (Larry) Witherspoon, Lucile Hatcher, Nellie Hatcher, Martha Hatcher and Irene (Tommy) Dix. Sons, Cleveland (Vicki) Hatcher, Fred (Pearl) Hatcher and Joel (Catherine) Hatcher. Ruth's husband Algie Lee preceded her in death. Ruth joined the church in her early years at Old Sardis Baptist Church in Union Springs, Alabama. She became a member of the Eastern Star. She moved to Florida, where she continued serving for the Lord. Ruth united with St. John Baptist Church, where she served on the Mother's Board and served as the President of the BYPU. Mother Hatcher later moved to Atlanta, where she joined the New Jerusalem Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor B.J. Johnson. She served as the President and Treasurer of the Mother's Board for many years. Mother Hatcher leaves us as a faithful member, laborer and server of New Jerusalem Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Howard Becker. She leaves to cherish her memories 25 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren, 2 devoted cousins, Cora and Jimmy Smith, a special friend uncle Alan McRay, devoted nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of other relatives and friends.
