Bailey, Pastor Shirley Mae Spear Harris was born February 28, 1937 to the late Edmond Spear, Jr. and Olive Mae Bowles Spear. To this union, five girls were born of which Shirley was the oldest. She was her father's mechanic, tractor driver and farmer. Shirley married Jerry Harris of Cedartown, Georgia at an early age and to this union 2 children were born: Sandra Strickland (Rayford), and Bishop Larry Harris (Sheila) who preceded her in death. Shirley was known for her hospitalityand family and friends knew that they were always welcome at her home to spend days and nights with her. There was always good food and a warm bed in which to sleep. In later years, health challenges pre ented Shirley from regularly worshipping at her home church, White Oak Grove Baptist, but she found nurture and love with her mother's side of the family at Pine Valley Church of God In Christ, where her uncle is Pastor. She kept the word of God close by and cherished the bible her son gave her which was marked with her favorite scriptures. Shirley received her wings Friday, June 16, 2017. One son, Bishop Larry Harris, and one sister, Eddie Lee Price, preceded her in death. Shirley leaves to cherish her memory a daughter Sandra Strickland; son-in-law Rayford Strickland; daughter-inlaw Sheila Harris of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania; grandchildren Ronald Strickland, Rafael Strickland, Brittany Harris, Justin Harris, Larry Harris, Jr., and Nicole Harris; great-grandchildren Chantel Nicole and Rafael Keyon; sisters JoAnn Mckenzie (Earl), Jewell Brown and Iona _Walker; two aunts Mrs. Thelma Glass and Mrs. Elvia Spear; one uncle Superintendent Woodrow Penson; brother-in-law Mr. Kenneth Price and a host of devoted nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. tJ~ ~ Sewtce Rev.
