Melson, Sr. Officia ting ~ Mrs. Hazel (Chappell) Green departed this life on March 9, 2014. Hazel was born February 2, 1928 in Lanett, Alabama to the late Floyd Chappell, Sr. and Sallie (Evans) Chappell. She is preceded in death by: her son, Lawrence Scottie Wright; three brothers, Floyd Wilmer and Bill Chappell; and one sister, Maxine (Chappell) Hanunond. Hazel began her Christian walk at an early age at Pilgrim Baptist Church in Lanett, Alabama, where she was baptized. She continued her service to the Lord when she moved to Atlanta, Georgia at Greater Mt. Calvary Baptist Church and then continued her service at First Mt. Selah Baptist Church. Hazel attended Lanier High School in Lanett, Alabama. She worked with the City of Atlanta for over 25 years. Her easy going demeanor, friendliness, and zest for life attracted many people. She loved to travel and cherished spending time with her family. She is survived by: her husband of 61 years, Paul Green; son, Bilal (wife Soumya) Muhanunad; one stepson, Milton Green; two sisters, Sallie (Chappell) Burton of Canton, Ohio and Corrine (Chappell) Grant of Warren, Ohio; one daughter-in-law, Regolida Wright; one granddaughter, Venesia G. Wright; one grandson, Antonio D. Winston; great granddaughter, Zarria F. Barlow; a host of other great grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Madeline Chappell of West Point, Georgia and Gladys B. Chappell of Lanett, Alabama; two great aunts, Lula Mae Roberts of Lanett, Alabama and Alice Stephens of Cleveland, Ohio; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. The Mterglow I'd like the memory of me to be a happy one I'd like to leave an afterglow of smiles when life is done. I'd like to leave an echo whispering softly down the ways. Ofhappy times and laughing times and bright and sunny days. I'd like the tears of those who grieve, to dn; before the sun. Of hnppy memories that I leave when life is done.
