Ruby Flemings Goshea was born November 24, 1909 in Monticello, Georgia, to the late Mr. & Mrs. Flemings (Lillie Brewer). She waseducated in the Jasper County Schools. ... ... ... Sis. Ruby was the mother of one son, Bryant Gaither, Sr. who preceded her in death. She later married Mr. Goshea and to this union no children were born. In 1960, after moving to the Edgewood area of Atlanta, Georgia, Sis. Ruby Goshea joined Turner Monumental A. M. E. Church under the pastorage of the late Dr. Dr. C. C. Hughes and she became a faithful, useful member. At Turner Sis. Gosliea was known for her entertaining, hospitable ways. She was on the Kitchen Committee. She was always extending her home especially to Choir #2 and the H. Jackson Chorus for Christmas Dinners, Hawaiian Teas and any other affairs, with delicious foods. Sis. Goshea served for many years as a Trustee, Class Leader and Lay Organization member. She remained as an -:1ctive Women's Missionary Society member who loved to travel to all of the meetings with her friends: Sis. Edna Lewis, the late Sis. Lurene Hughes and the late Rev. A. E. Dunn. It was never too early, too hot or too cold for her to attend. She was a faithful, useful member in Choir Number 2 and the H. Jackson Chorus. I Sis. Ruby Goshea departed this life, December 14, 1999, and she will be missed by her family and friends for her soft spoken voice and gentle ways. She leaves to cherish her memories and rejoice in her homegoing: four grandchildren: Helen Johnson, Bryant Gaither, Jr., Alvoris Gaither and Bridgette Sims; one grandson: Ricky Gaither, who preceded her in death; two greatgranddaughters: Shanterry Evette Johnson and Lydia Paige Johnson; two great-great grandchildren: Master Christopher Pierce and little Nicolas Johnson; a host of other relatives and friends.
