Piney Grove Missionary Baptist Church Brewton, Alabama Revere~d William Brown, Pastor Officiating Obituary Clara Mallard Gooden was born November 3, 1906 to the late Frank Mallard and Roberta Stallworth. She passed away in Dallas, TX on April 17, 2003. Born in Monroe County (Beatrice, Alabama), she accepted Christ at an early age and united with the Pineville Baptist Church in Beatrice, Alabama. Clara moved to Brewton and joined the Piney Grove Baptist church. She attended Southern Normal School under Professor Dooley. She was later united in holy matrimony to Wavery Gooden. Her husband, both parents, one sister (Fannie Biggs), three brother (Nathaniel, Frank and Nick) all preceded her in death. She leaves to cherish her memories two daughters, Bernice Phillips of Hyattsville, Maryland and Gracie Carter McGill of Washington, DC; two granddaughters, Velma Claressa Carter of Dallas, Texas and Aundra Carol Mallard of Detroit, Michigan; two grandsons, Edward Tyrone Carter (Denise) of Accokeek, Maryland and Adrian Wendell Carter (Pam) of Washington, DC; five great grandchildren, Ceciley, Akeem, Tameka, Christian and Justin; three great-great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
