Mr. Alfred B. Glass was born on the 18th of' a cold December day, in 1940. He came into the life of his parents~ the late Mr. and Mrs. Eddie Glass, (Beatrice). Alfred was the second son of his loving parents. 
He was educated in the Atlanta Public Schools. The years p~ssed rapidly as he left E. R Carter Elementary School, and marched with classmates as a graduate of Booker T. Washington High School. School days had been fun but it was time to begin life as a young adult. 
During his youth he was committed to the service of the LORD, as he received the right hand of fellowship at the Mt. Zion Second Baptist Church, in Atlanta, Georgia. He is presently a member of the New Emanuel Baptist Church, Rev. Parnell Mosley, Pastor. Alfred attended Sunday School, ana as a young man was a member of the church' B. T. U. 
 
One day everything changed. He was riding on a city bus with a friend when he spotted a lovely young woman. He informed the friend that although he did not know that lovely lady he was going to marry her one day. Well, dreams do come true, because several months later he bad proposed to the young woman. The woman who had captured his heart was Sarah Randolph. Love was their common bond, so on the beautiful day of June 23, 1963, Alfred married Sarah. The wedding vows were exchanged at Antioch North Baptist Church, with Rev. M. Williams officiating. 
A child is a gift from GOD. A gift which must be love and cherished. GOD knew that Alfred and Sarah would be good parents, so be sent Alfred Jr., Laura, and Richard to their care. 
Life with his family was what Alfred held dear. He devoted himseH to raising his children and loving his wife. 
 
Alfred was a man who enjoyed his profession, carpentry. His bobby was his work. He took great pride in completing any job with perfection. He knew that his work was a sign of his belief that any job worth doing was worth doing well. For over twenty years~ Globe Union (Johnson Control) was his employer. While an employee of Globe Union he received extensive training as a manager. Be would take his skills to the City of Atlanta Water Department, and give five years of his talents to their service. 
Then in 1987 he made a decision to become an entrepreneur. With the support of his family he begin the " A. B. Glass Construction Company." This was a very successful venture. 
Travel with his wife was always fun. He IO'\'ed to ~acation near the water, and the Atlantic Ocean splashed on his feet many times. He liked music, and often listened to Tina Turner and Michael JKk!on. He really liked the color " dirty red." His mother-in-law often made his favorite desert, cantaloupe pie. Alfred read the Holy Bible, and believed in the promises of GOD. When problems arose in the lives of family and friends he would say, " Let go, and Pt GOD." He was concerned with the lives and experiences of the children in his community. He spent many hours when home talking to them and offering fatherly advice. 
 
Alfred B. Glass was a wonderful husband, a de\'Oted father, a loving son and brother. Suddenly, last Friday, the evening of August 7th, GOD made a decision! GOD called Alfred home to be with him in paradise. The first words Alfred heard when he stood in the presence of the LORD w&Sy " Well done thy good and faithful servant, well done! Come and visit with your mother and father. Talk for a while with your brother Nelson who came to my throne of grace just a while before you." 
 
Cherishing his beautiful memories are a loving wife, Mrs. Sarah R..: Glass, one daughter, Ms. Laura Glass, 
 
two sons; Mr. Alfred B. Glass, Jr., and Mr. Richard Glass, grandchildren; Nelson Glass and Angel Glass, sisters; Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Baty (Helen), Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Smith (Vivian), Mrs. Julia P, Brown~ Jackson 
 
.Miss., and Mr. and Mrs. George Wright ( Diedra ), Upper Marlboro, Md., brothers; Mr. Milton Glass, 
 
Mr. Larry Glass, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Glass (Virginia); mother, Dr. Julia M. Glass, 
 
mother-in-law; Mrs. Annie L. Harris, aunt; Mrs. Louise Alexander, Pueblo, Co., six nieces, three nephews, one 
 
great niece, and one great nephew. 
 
 
 
Many, many extended family members and friends are also feeling the pain of losing Alfred.
