Hall Officiating Interment Woodlawn Memorial Park Obituary Willie Edward Garey departed this life on May 5, 2009 at 8:15a.m. Willie was born on May 20, 1935 to the parentage of the late Mr. Willie David Garey, and Mrs. Elizabeth Pinkett Garey in Macon, Bibb County. Willie was the oldest of eight children. Willie was christened and received his early religious training at St. Paul A.M.E. Church, Powell Street. Willie attended Maryland M. Burdell Elementary School. Willie graduated in the first graduating class of Ballard Hudson High School in 1953. After graduating from high school, Willie attended Tuskegee Institute for two years majoring in Contracting and Drafting. Willie left Tuskegee to enlist in the Army. As a Corporal in the army, he served his country well. Upon completion of his tour of duty in Germany, Willie received an honorable discharge from the Army. Willie continued to serve his country as a member of The Georgia National Guard. Willie chose to become a bricklayer by profession, helping build many of Macon's beautiful buildings and homes. Willie was an instructor at Macon Technical College where he trained many bricklayers in the trade. Willie was a member of the Bricklayers and Allied Craftsmen Local #4 of Georgia, where he served as a past Treasurer. Willie was honored by the Bricklayers and Allied Craftsmen Local #4 in 1964 for his contributions. Willie is survived by his wife, Annie Louise Garey; four children, Vickye Garey (Franklin) Lester of Snellville, Georgia, William (Shannon) Garey of Conyers, Georgia, Carlton (Annie T.) Garey, and Diahann Garey of Macon, Georgia; six grandchildren, Monique, DeAndre, William Jr., Fayetta, Jabria, and Will; one great grandchild, JaJuan of Decatur, Georgia; five brothers, Arnold Aristic (Vivian) Garey of Chatsworth, California, Rev. Eddie Milton Garey, who preceded him in death, John Alfred Garey of Riverdale, Georgia, Richard David (Delores) Garey of Macon, Georgia, Fredrick Deleon Garey; two sisters, Mattie Elizabeth Copeland of Lincoln, Nebraska and Marie Garey (Henry) Lamar of Suwanee, Georgia; one aunt, Mrs. Mattie Pinkett Gunn of Macon, Georgia; one uncle, Eddie Pinkett of Detroit, Michigan; three sistersin-law, Mary Havior, Fannie Deny of Milledgeville, Georgia and Rosa Evans of Detroit, Michigan; one brother-in-law, Perry Cody of Milledgeville, Georgia; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends among them members of The Ballard Hudson Class of 1953 and The Bricklayers and Allied Craftsmen Local #33 of Georgia. ~~ ~~~ ~~4~-O-r-de-r-o-f-S-e-rv-ic-e-~~~~~ Viewing Selection .............................................Amazing Grace Prayer.....................................
