Melson, Officiating Ralph Freeman was born May 2, 1934 to the late James Freeman and Christine Rutland and was later adopted by Hilliard Rutland of East Point, Georgia. One sister, Lou Valia Rutland preceded him in death. Ralph joined Neriah Baptist Church at an early age under the leadership of Rev. R.N. Martin. Ralph attended South Fulton High School. He was married to Lula Bell Freeman of Thomaston, Georgia; this union was blessed with two children. Later in life he became employed as a construction worker. His last employment was at The Atlanta Journal and Constitution. Ralph leaves to cherish his memory two sons, Larry Freeman (Mary Jo) and Ralph Tyrone Freeman; two daughters, Regina Freeman and Shanta Freeman; one sister, Hilda Thurmond; twelve grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren; and a host of other family and friends.
