She made her peaceful transition on Wednesday, July 27, 2011. She met and married the late Anderson Fluellen, Jr. To their union one son, Anderson Cornell Fluellen became their precious bundle of joy. They were committed in creating avenues of success for their son. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother James McKinley Fannin. Gwen was a devoted mother, sister, friend and trusting soul. She received her education through the Atlanta Public School system. She graduated from Booker T. Washington High School in Atlanta, Georgia. Received her Bachelor of Arts Degree &om Clark College, Atlanta, Georgia, Master of Science in Library Service from Atlanta University, Atlanta, Georgia and her Doctorate in Education from Nova Southeastern University, Fort Lauderdale, Florida. She began her professional career with the Atlanta Public School system providing service for thirty plus years, retiring as a Media Specialist. Her commitment to quality education was exemplified in her challenge to the school system in keeping technology as a cornerstone to implementing and delivering quality instruction to faculty and students. Dr. Fluellen was a member of Ben Hill United Methodist Church and served as a servant translating the principles of Christianity. She served as an ambassador to many people by creating friendship networks through the Jewels and Partners Ministry. Outside of her church affiliation, she was a member of the Societas Docta, Inc., Elite Elegant Club and was a faithful member of the Sparklers Bridge Club. Gwen as we affectionately called her knew how to unite people and build lasting friendships. At Clark College she became a member of Alpha Pi Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated. After graduation she transferred to Kappa Omega Chapter in Atlanta, Georgia where she quickly demonstrated her leadership skills. She served two terms as chapter Basileus (president) of I
