And God said, "Let there be light." And there was light. And God saw into the future, for He was making it all, The Alpha and The Omega, and somewhere in between... God saw Jeanetta, and thus ordained her as a circle of light, Who draws us to her with warmth Who teaches us with courage Who embraces us with love, And He saw a daughter and gave her to Daddy John and Mother Dear.., And He saw brothers and sisters, And she became the big sister - the caretaker - the circle of light. And He saw a husband, Andrew, and made her his wife and best friend, And He saw her as a mother of a son, Andre', and a daughter, Valyncia. He saw her as a baker whose cakes fed and sustained us and brightened 
all of our holidays. And He saw her as a teacher to give wisdom and to teach knor.uledge to 
his precious little ones. And He saw her as a principal, as a leader, and a visionary, And as a precious circle of light. Jeanetta, this precious circle of light. He saw her as His child, His precious very own. He gave her to us to lead our way home.

 OBITUARY 
In the early morning hours, God reached down and plucked a beautiful rose from his garden. J eanetta Smith Echols stepped into eternal life and joined her heavenly father on Saturday, October 18, 1997. 
Born October 7, 1947, to the late Mr. and Mrs. John Smith, Jr., in Chattanooga, Tennessee, she received her early education in the public school system of Chattanooga. She joined Orchard Knob Baptist Church at an early age and was very active in various youth ministries. 
Upon graduation from Knoxville College, she returned to Chattanooga to teach in the public school system. She later married Andrew R. Echols and moved to Macon, Georgia. 
She furthered her education at Georgia College and later earned a Master of Science in Education from Mercer University and the degree of Education Specialist from Troy State University. 
She was employed by the Bibb County Board of Education and worked in various capacities: Teacher at Northeast High School; Assistant Principal at Appling Middle School and Central High School (Lander A); and Principal of Weaver Middle School. 
Her memories will be cherished by a loving husband, Andrew R. Echols; Son, Andre' Echols of Columbia, South Carolina; Daughter, Valyncia Echols of Macon, Georgia; Godparents, Mr. and Mrs. B. R. Hester of Chattanooga, Tennessee; Three Sisters: Wanda S. O'Neal, Belinda S. Toney (Eugene) of Chattanooga, Tennessee; Jacqueline S. Varner (Ernest) of Acworth, Georgia; Four Brothers: Alvin Smith (Johnnie), James Smith (Donna) of Chattanooga, Tennessee; John Smith, 111 (Dorothy) of Freeport, Texas, Jamichael Smith (Dahlia) of San Diego, California; Sisters and Brothers-in-law: Frances Smith of Bronx, New York, Robbie Battle (Lorenza) of Macon, Eddy Echols (Barbara) of Chattanooga, Tennessee; Jesse Echols (Doris) of Lithonia, Georgia; Vivian Echols of Cleveland, Ohio; Hattie Turner of Blakely, Georgia; Maude Echols of Nashville, Tennessee; Reuben Echols, Jr., of Cleveland, Ohio; Two Uncles: Charlie Moore (Elva) of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; Manuel Pinkard of Chattanooga, Tennessee; Aunts: Esther Palmer, Ethel Perdue, and Eloise Perdue of Andalusia, Alabama; Lillie Howard of Carrollton, Alabama; Rowena Perdue of River Falls, Alabama, and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and close friends.
