Dooley 's Life Rubye B. Dooley was bornjune 19, 1917, in Seneca, SC to the late Mr. Thomas]. Dooley Sr. and Mrs. Nellie Steward Dooley. Her early education began at the old Ashby Street School now known as E. R. Carter Elementary School and Miss Chadwick School for Girls at Spelman College. She was a graduate of Booker T. Washington High School, Spelman College and Atlanta University with doctoral studies at New York University. At an early age, shejoined the West Hunter Street Baptist Church later moving her membership to Providence Baptist Church where she served in the Senior Choir until her health began to fail. She began her career as a teacher in West Point, GA, later becoming a Georgia Jeans Supervisor for Burke-Jasper and Butts Counties from 1952-1955; and jeans Supervisor for the West PointLagrange City School System from 1956-1963, when she accepted a position as Associate Professor of Education at Clark College from 1963 until she retired in 1983. She served as Historian for the Georgia Jeans Association. She was affilated with many organizations connected with her profession. She leaves to cherish her memory a mother; Mrs. Nellie S. Dooley, sisters; Mrs. Margaret D. Marshall and Mrs. Gloria D. Ricks, a brother; Robert S. Dooley; several nieces, nephews, cousins and two aunts; Mrs. Edna Lawrence and Mrs. Mable Alexander of Seneca, SC.
