On the morning of Wednesday, N ovemher sixteenth, Rosa Mae Banks Cotton was surrounded by her family. As they worshipped God and sang "Nobody Greater", the Holy Spirit filled her r~~m. He extended His hand and gendy ushered Rosa Mae into the waiting arms of her Savior, Jesus Christ. 
Mrs. Rosa Mae Banks Cotton was born on October 18, 1929 to the parents ofJoseph Banks and Hattie Banks in Emerson (Bartow County), Georgia. She was preceded in death by four (4) sisters and nine (9) brothers. 
She was educated in the public school system of Cartersville, Georgia, and she also attended Fort Valley State University. 
She was united in marriage to the late Professor Robert Louis Cotton, and to this union were born 4 children. She was a lifelong member of Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church where she worked on the Deaconess board. During her life, she served as a librarian, substitute teacher and was retired from First Brands (Union Carbide) where she was the first African-American woman to be hired there. She was an encourager and disciplinarian ho achieved both through self sacrifice, exhortation, edification and comfort tooted in a pure and sincere love for others. 
She leaves an enduring legacy in her 5 children, Angela (John) Price of Macon, Georgia, Gwendolyn (the late Danny) Hudson of Columbus, Georgia, Reginald (Donna) Cotton, Christopher (Patricia) Cotton both of August2, Georgia, and Grady Haney of Cartersville, Georgia; 14 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren a host of nieces, nephews, cou~ friends, neighbors and ad voted care giver Miss Trudy Rutledge.
