He was the fourth of seven children. All but one has succeeded him in death. Brother Riah attended an All Age School then Trade School in the padsh of Saint Ann, Jamaica. He worked as a carpenter for more than thirty years with the same employer, where he also trained many young men and gained the name "father Corr." One of his favorite hobbies was baking, but he was also knowledgeable in masonry, mechanic, plumbing, as a matterof-fact, some have said, he was a "jack of all trade" and master of many. As a result of his profession and trade, in 1982 he was called to join the faculty and staff ofNorthem Caribbean University, formerly known as West Indies College, where he served as Head of Maintenance Department. Brother Riah knew what it was like to put in many hours at work; he did so to not only provide for his family, but to also share with others. Family time was most important to him, going to the beach, spending quality time together, making ice cream, and just driving out at times with a special touch of"sweet foot." These were all fun times! Brother Riah taught his children the dignity of labor at an early age. Each one had his or her daily or weekly assigned chores, which was expected to be done correctly. He accepted Christ at an early age and joined the Seventhday Adventist Church and remained a faithful member until his passing. He was a "Christian Model" to his children and others. As priest of his household, early morning worship would always be priority to start the new day. He did not seek revenge whenever people did him wrong. "I leave them to God" he would always say. He was very active in his church where he served as an Elder, Personal Ministry Leader, Sabbath School Superintendent and Teacher, and served on the Church Building Committee. As a teacher, he would always ask thought provoking questions to see how deeply the students studied "God's Word." In Apdl 1987 Brother Riah migrated to the USA where he made Ossining, New York his home. He and his wife later relocated to Lithonia, Georgia in January 2012. In October of2012, Brother Riah became ill. He received medical attention and was being cared for in a nursing home; his condition, however, worsened until the Lord called him home to rest in peace. Brother Riah is survived by his wife, Mavis Corrodus, the love of his life for over fifty-five years. Seven children: Basil, Devon, Deleta, Philemon, Dougal, Seymour and Alphanso (Barry) and one sister, Lauretta, are left behind to mourn the loss of a loving husband, father, and brother. One other daughter, Andrea, preceded him in death March, 2008. There are more than twenty-five grandchildren as well as great-grand children, nieces, nephews, in-laws, many relatives, friends, and love ones who are grieving today.
