On June 8, 2017 God called Ada W. Comer to her eternal home. Born May 29, 1920, Ada Birda Waddle was the third of four children born to Irvin B. and Carrie Griffin Waddle. Ada was a graduate of Sterling High School in Sheffield, Alabama. She received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education from Alabama State Teachers College (Now Alabama State University) in Montgomery, Alabama. On December 27, 1965 she married her soul mate, Henry David Comer of Huntsville, Alabama. They shared a happy life together until his death. A consummate caretaker and nurturer, she opened her home and loving cared for her two aunts and later on a cousin: Miss Katie Griffin, Mrs. Surrilda Griffin Osborne and Mrs. Annie Grace Osborne Phillips respectively. With love and compassion she taught first grade in West Alabama, New Britain, Conn., Sheffield and Cherokee, Alabama. Everywhere she traveled her first grade students adoringly recognized her, from Minneapolis, Minnesota at The Mall of America to El Paso, Texas. Ada loved the Lord and she served Him well in the church, in the choir, the classroom and with her family, friends and neighbors. She was a lifelong member of St. Paul A.M.E. Church of Tuscumbia. She served as the Church Sunday School Superintendant until the time of her homegoing. Ada was preceded in death by her husband; parents; sister, Mary T. Ricks and brother, Irvin B. Waddle. She leaves to cherish her love and warmth her sister, Lillie W. Hall of Atlanta, Ga., her beloved niece and nephew, Carolyne Hall 0 biluary (continued) (Johnnie) Simmons of Atlanta, Ga. and John Brady (Tamra) Hall, Jr. of Fayetteville , Ga.; a loving stepdaughter, Celia (Curtis) Collins ofWarner Robins, Ga.; two grandchildren and great grandchildren; a niece, Margaret Ricks (Russell) Harris, eight great grands and eight great great grand nieces and nephews; godchildren, Laurence & Daphne Garrett and a host of cousins and friends. Some called her Ada, Ada Birda, "Babe", or Mrs. Comer, but all who knew her were blessed by her warmth, kindnesss, caring and giving spirit.
