 Her Life Was a Song Worth Singing...

June 22, 1973 was a day to remember in the life of Cecil and Veda Brown. For it was on this day that they were blessed with their precious daughter, Tenika LaShawn Brown. With a warm spirit of love, peace and gentleness, Neikki was a gem like no other. 
A native of Atlanta, Georgia, Neikki graduated from D. M. Therrell High School in 1992, where she was actively involved in the ROTC program. She later entered Georgia Medical Institute (GMI), and earned certification as a Medical Administrative Assistant. Neikki excelled at GMI, receiving recognition for perfect attendance, and she also made the Director's List. Neikki was most proud of the fact that she was able to successfully matriculate through GMI. 
Neikki loved people, and this attribute was seen in everything she did. Friends and family considered her kindhearted, loving, nurturing and generous. Simply put, everybody loved her. As a true indication of her love for children, Neikki was employed as a Program Specialist for KinderCare Learning Center. In her spare time, she enjoyed going fishing and going to the movies. Bowling and cooking were among her other favorites. 
At an early age, Neikki accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. She was a member of White Plains United Methodist Church. She worked as the Hospitality Coordinator for Sisters Empowerment Network, a nonprofit organization organized by her mother, where she used her awesome gift of hospitality. 
On January 24, 2007, the angels beckoned for Neikki, informing her family and loved ones that she was needed in heaven. There could be no further delay, for she was needed right away. Understanding that God is too wise to make a mistake, Neikki yielded, giving up the pain that she knew her body could no longer endure. She now rests in the bosom of Abraham, and she joyously waits to see those who preceded her in death: father, Cecil Brown; aunt, Teresa Brown and uncle, Johnny Lee,and great-grandparents. 
Remaining to cherish her memories are: mother, Veda Brown; sister, Cecile (Antione) Alexander; nieces, Kennedy Brown and Chase Alexander; grandmothers, Rosa King and Minnie Lee Brown; grandfather, Willie (Ruth) King; uncles, Carl (Cathy) Jenkins; Rodney (Sharon) King; Charles (Beth) Brown; Willie (Rose) Brown; Calvin Brown; Calvert (Alfreda) Brown; aunts, Elaine (Mike) Jones; Jackie (Bernard) Gaston; Shirley (Billy) Bowman; Patricia (Gary) Lawrence; cousins, Carla Emmanuel, Lisa Persons, Candace Persons, Carmen Jenkins, Tierra Jenkins, TaByron Smith, Skylar Bass, Amani Emmanuel, Chasis Dawson, Marquita Dawson, Malakai McGhee, Erin Sims, Jarrott Johnson, and a host of other relatives and friends. 
1 N eikki's life was truly a song worth singing. And because of her beautiful legacy, she has forever left a song in the hearts of all who were fortunate to have known and love her.
