Julia Mae Harris was born in Sharon, Georgia to the late Booker T and Martha Harris. She was oldest of four siblings: Herman, Bobby, and Lillian. Julia was educated in the Taliaferro County school system. She later moved to Atlanta, Georgia and married the late George Brown, Sr. and to this union was born six children, two sons Franklin and Alford Brown who precede her in death; Martha, George Jr., Jewel, and Bernard Brown. Julia retired from Marriott In-flight Service in the mid 1980's. Mother Julia Brown joined The Greater Piney Grove Baptist Church at an early age under the leadership of Reverend Barnett and served faithfully until her health failed. Her service to the church and community goes far beyond a few words of expression. She was an original member of the Frank Jones Gospel Choir and served in the Busy Bee Ministry. She was also one of the first Mothers ordained by Pastor William E. Flippin, Sr. She never failed to exemplify distinct charisma and optimized the epitome of a God fearing woman. Julia always presented herself with a humble spirit. She loved to sing, cook, travel, and spend time with her family and friends. At 2:02am on December 6, 2006 Mother Brown made her departure to be with her Heavenly Father. She leaves to cherish her memory her children, Reverend Martha Alexander, George Brown, Jr. (Carolyn), Jewel Brown (Gail), Bernard Brown (Loretta), one daughter in-law Gloria Brown and one sister Lillian Shepherd. Her legacy will continue through her 18 grand children, 30 great-grand children 12 great-great grand children and a host of relatives, friends and church family In tears we saw you sinking And watched you fade away: Our hearts were almost broken, We wanted you to stay. But when we saw you sleeping So peaceful and free from pain; How could we wish you back with us; To suffer that again? It broke our hearts to loose you, But you did not go alone; For part of us went with you, The day God called you home. What Will Be Your Legacy?
