We thank God for you all. bttuaru Mr. William Alexander (Doc) Black was born April11, 1932, in Troup County Georgia to the late Willie Lee Black and Lennie Beatrice Black. He departed this life Tuesday July 26, 1988 at his residence. He joined the Springfield Baptist Church during August Revival in 1974, under the Leadership of the Rev. E.R. Davie, Where he served faithfully until his death. He served as a teacher for Bible Class for many years, and served as a teacher for the Men's Sunday School Class shortly after he joined the Church. He was presented the first Pastor Award in '1981 for assisting his pastor, Rev. A.B. Lankford on Sunday mornings with the worship service. He was a dedicated leader as a (street) supervisor in his department and the entire city of Hogansville. He leaves to rejoice in his homegoing, his loving wife, Johnnie Mae Black, two sons, Lamar and Walter, four daughters, Jennifer Reid, Yolanda, Phyllis, and Kolette. A stepmother, Beatrice Black, step-sister, Tommie Frank Brown, half-brother, Mr. William Thomas Black of Rome, Georgia, two sister's-in-law, Mary Darden, Emma Shanks, and one brother-in-law, Robert Darden. Others include two aunts, Iva Beasley, Daisy Meadows, two uncles, Archie Lee Meadows, and Jerry Black, one son-in-law, Derek Reid, one daughter-inlaw, Michelle Black, 10 grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and many, many, many friends to cherish his memory. There's an open gate at the end of the road Through which each must go alone And there in a light we cannot see Our Father claims His own Beyond the gate your loved onefinds happiness and rest And there is comfort in the thought That a loving God knows best.
