Don't say that I lost the battle, for it was God's war to lose or win. When you draw a picture of me, don't draw me as a saint. I've done some good, I've done some wrong, so use all your paint. Please don't say how good I was, but that I did 1ny best. Just say I tried to do what's right to ,g,ive the mq_st I could, not less. Please don't give me wings or halos, that's for God to do. I want no more than I deserve, no extras, just my due. Please don't give me flowers or talk in real hushed tones. Don't be concerned about me now, I'm well with God, I've made it home. Don't talk about what I could have been, it's over and it's done, just see to all my family's needs, especially the little ones ... Not just bright and light tones, use some gray and dark. In fact, don't put me down on canvas, paint me in your heart. Don't just remember good times, but remember all the bad. For life is full of many things, some happy and some sad ... But if you must do something, then I have one request, forgive me for the wrongs I've done and with the love that's left ... Thank God for my soul's resting. Thank God for I've been blessed. GLOVER, JR., OFFICIATING INTERMENT MIDDLE GEORGIA MEMORY GARDENS OBITUARY Quietly, on Friday afternoon, February 25, 2000, the gracious and merciful Father gently called His humble servant, Deacon Johnny Lee Battle, to his eternal rest. Johnny Lee Battle was born in Washington County, Sandersville, Georgia, on April 14, 1938, to the parentage of Essie Mae Durham and Fred Battle. He received his educational training in the public schools of Bibb County. He served in the United States Army and received an honorable discharge in 1963. On July 5, 1964, Johnny and Annie Laura were united in holy matrimony, a devoted and loving union that continued until his demise. He retired from the Warner Robins Air Force Base, where he was supervisor of his department. Johnny also received several awards and medals for his leadership ability. He was a faithful and dedicated member of the Greater Zion Hill Missionary Baptist Church, where he served on various ministries including the Board of Deacons, Sunday School, Usher Board, Male Chorus, and Board of Christian Education. Because of his willingness to also work in the community, he associated himself with many local, state and national organizations including The Men's Savings Club of Bibb County, the NAACP and the SCLC. Johnny leaves to cherish his memory: his loving and devoted wife, Annie Laura Battle; three sisters, Freddie Mae Stokes and Mary Alice Hill of Macon, Georgia, and Sweetie (Raymond) Graham of Atlanta, Georgia; a brother, Abe (Betty) Battle of Ohio; three aunts, Mamie Battle and Katie Battle of Camden, New Jersey, and Maola Braddy of Macon, Georgia; an uncle, William (Mattie) Will of Newark, New Jersey; a devoted cousin, Minnie Davis of Sandersville, Georgia; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and dear friends.
