Chestnut Grove Baptist Church Athens, Georgia Pastor Wilson Lattimore, Officiating (!)~ ~ke Jsaiah ~arnett was born on January 31, 1915 in Clarke County, Georgia, the first son of Odie and Hattie Jones Barnett. He began assisting his father on the family farm at the age of eight and joined the Chestnut Grove Baptist Church in 1929 at the age of fourteen. He became a deacon in 1944 and was a faithful member throughout his life. Prelude Processional Luke attended Union Baptist Institute and in 1933 joined the C.C.C. Camp in Chattanooga, Tennessee. After returning home from C.C.C. Camp, he was married to Roberta Virginia Glenn on December 6, 1936. To this union three children were born: Louis Hinton Barnett, Cordelia Delores Barnett and Tyrone McCoil Barnett. He was self-employed during his working career and took pride in his independence. He was a barber, drove a school bus, ran a wood business, operated a service station and did landscaping during his retirement. ard He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Roberta G. Barnett, two sisters; Oree Long and Cleora Johnson; three brothers Lloyd Barnett, Hampton Barnett and Eddie Gary ; three brothers-in-law, Horace E. Tate, Carter Lincoln and Walter Tidwell; son-in-law Robert Allen and Eulogy-- granddaughter Sylvia Allen. He leaves to cherish his memory a daughter Cordelia Allen; two sons; Louis H. Barnett ( ldanell) and Tyrone M. Barnett (Marion); four sisters; Lillie Mae Williams, Venida Tidwell, Ernestine Lincoln and Virginia Tate; two sisters-in-law Johnella Barnett and Sue Gary; five grandsons; Anthony Allen, Michael Barnett, Derrick Lee, Fred Beal and Craig Beal and a host of neices, nephews other family and friends.
