}I Letter to 9rl.y ittfe Sissy Dear Sissy, God looked around his garden And He found an empty place. And then He looked down upon the earth, And saw your tired face. He put His arms around you, And lifted you to rest. God's garden must be beautiful, He always takes the best. He knew that you were suffering, He knew you were in pain, He knew that you would never get well on earth again. He saw the road was getting rough, And the hills were hard to climb, So He closed your weary eyelids, And whispered "Peace be thine. " It broke our hearts to lose you. But you didn't go alone, For part of us went with you, The day God called you home. Sissy, I love you and miss you dearly. But I know you were tired and ready to go. Tell mama and daddy hello. I love them and I miss them too. Tell them I 'm on my way and we 'll be together again. Keep laughing "tee hee " ! CJ?svel4tions 20:12 As the Master examines the Book ofLife for Rosalyn Baker, the first chapter finds her placed in the loving arms of her parents George W. and Mable Gordon Baker on January 4, 1949 in Chattahoochee County, Georgia. Upon her arrival, she met an older sister, Carolyn, "Boo" as she affectionately called her. Rosalyn 's nickname was "Sissy". Boo and Sissy were inseparable little girls. Rosalyn, with the round chubby face, would always ..__ _..._......,_. rely on her sister to do the chores around the home while she played and watched TV! The second chapter in the Book of Life fo r Rosalyn Baker paints a beautiful picture of a Christian sister, laboring in the vineyard for Christ. Rosalyn joined Friendship A.ME. Church in 1959. She served faithfully on the Trustee Board, Stewardess Board and as the church secretary. She devoted a life time to working for her church and other community churches. Rosalyn loved the Lord and tried to keep his commandments. The third chapter in the Book of Life for Rosalyn Baker reveals an inquisitive little girl with a strong thirst for knowledge. Rosalyn attended the public schools of Chattahoochee County, graduating with honors in 1966. She earned a four year scholarship to Morris Brown College, Atlanta, Georgia. While at Morris Brown, she majored in Elementary Education and received a B.S. degree in 1970. That following year, Rosalyn enrolled at Atlanta University seeking an advanced degree in Early Childhood Education. Her goal was achieved in 1972, when she received her Masters Degree. As the Master continues thumbing through the Book ofLife for Rosalyn Baker, He noticed that she had a very strong work ethic. She began her teaching career in the Chattahoochee County School System in 1972. She demonstrated a sincere love for children and teaching. In 1985, she was chosen to serve as the Director of the Title I Program for the county. In this position, she was responsible for preparing the Title I proposal, establishing and overseeing the distribution of the budget, coordinating parental involvement and many other duties too numerous to name. Rosalyn retired from the school system in 1998. Other chapters in the Book ofLife fo r Rosalyn Baker discussed her love for people. She loved to talk on the phone, checking to see how everyone was fairing. You could hear her late at night laughing and talking to neighbors and relatives back home. She was family oriented and truly loved her sister "Boo". She often mentioned how thankful she was for having a sister to take care ofher. She loved her nephew, Van and his wife Inez. She adored her niece Madisyn, her "look-a-like". Madisyn could really brighten Rosalyn's day. As the final chapters were being written in the Book ofLife for Rosalyn Baker, the Master saw that she was growing tired. Her steps had grown shorter. Her body had gotten weaker. Her mind was more fixed on going home to be with mama and daddy. Rosalyn became gravely ill on November 23, 2009 and was admitted to Emory Hospital. On December 11, 2009, the Master saw fit to call his servant home and relieve her ofher pain. She is at peace now, surrounded by kindred andfriends. Can't you see her rejoicing and shouting "Free at last"? Sorrowfully recognizing her death but joyfully reflecting upon her life are a sister, Carolyn Baker Taggart, a nephew, Van L.
