Mrs. Lucy K. Bailey, the daughter of Lui a and Alonzo Kinard, began life on October 1, 1908 in Prosperity, South Carolina. Her early childhood education and high school education, were received in the local community. Upon moving to Atlanta, Georgia, she earned a degree in nursing from the Tillman School of Nursing. 
She was employed in several companies, including The Davison's Department Stores, the family of Judge E. E. Andrews and finally becoming a registered nurse; serving at Grady Memorial Hospital. 
Lucy was united in holy matrimony to Lewis Evans in 1936, and to this union, one son, Lewis Evans, was born. Upon the death of her first husband, she married the late Frank Bailey, former treasurer of the Big Bethel A.M.E. Church. At this church, Mrs. Bailey served in the following organizations: the Sons and Daughters of Bethel, the Pastor's Aide Board and has served as one of Big Bethel's Door Keepers on Usher Board Number 1. She was a member for more than sixty years. 
Mrs. Bailey leaves to cherish her memory, one son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Evans (Shirley); stepdaughter, Mrs. Charlestine J. Baldwin; seven grandchildren, Charlene Evans, Carolyn Evans, Sheryl Evans, Victoria Evans, Lewis Evans, Ill, James Evans, Angela E. Benton and her husband, Jerry Benton; three greatgrandchildren, Mercedes, Scott and Terry; a host of other relatives and friends.
