Description
In 1953, a committee put together a scrapbook for Smyrna's application to the "Better Home Town" Award organized by Georgia Power. The contest, designed to promote and encourage development in Georgia's smaller cities, required applicants to create a scrapbook showcasing their town and its attributes. The scrapbook includes photographs, newspaper clippings, event programs, and typed committee reports that summarized the following topics: municipal development, beautification, education, business and industry, advertising and publicity, religious welfare, recreation, health and sanitation, transportation, civic activities, and youth.
