Lucas of the County \u0026 state aforesaid \nof the one part, \u0026 William P. Haynes of the County \nof Washington \u0026 State aforesaid of the other part \nwitnesseth, that we have exchanged the following \nnegro slaves to wit: a girl named Piggy about \nfifteen years of age, held, owned, \u0026 possessed by the \nsaid Edwin L. for a girl named Martha, about \nSeventeen years old, held, owned, \u0026 possessed by the \nsaid William P. who receives the term of twenty \nfine dollars as a fair \u0026 equitable difference in \ntheir value.- Now the said Edwin L. doth bargain \nrelease, alien, exchange, dispose of, \u0026 convey to the said \nWilliam P. all right, title, \u0026 claim whatever to the \nsaid negro girl Peggy and her issue to the said \nWilliam P. his heirs, assigns, executors \u0026 administrators \nto have \u0026 to hold against him the said Edwin L. \nhis heirs, assigns, executors \u0026 administrators, \u0026 against the \nclaim or claims of all other persons forever. \nIn witness whereof I have hereunto set my \nhand \u0026 seal this seventeenth day of January in \nthe year of our Lord, one thousand eight hundred \n\u0026 thirty four. \n   [signed] Edwin L.
