The theme of this book is "Gone With the Wind."
The drawings for this theme are by Warner
Morgan, West Georgia student, who has con-
tributed graciously of his talents.
The editors have tried to represent within this book
the most interesting and most representative features
of student life at West Georgia College during
1936-37. In keeping with this aim, they have
chosen as the theme of the book, "Gone With the
Wind," which is an example of typical Southern
life. If, in future years this hook causes one to re-
live his cherished experiences at W. G. C, our work
will not have been in vain.
MARGARET MITCHELL
EAST SEVENTEENTH STREET N,
ATLANTA, GEORGIA
NovemTaer 18, 1936
Dear Mr. Kelly:
I cannot tell you how much I
appreciate the fact that the staff of The
Chieftain is dedicating this year's annual
to me and using "Gone With the Wind" as the
theme of the volume. Honors are always
sweet, of course, "but never sv;eeter than
when bestowed by those closest to us, those
of our own State and section. You and the
annual staff have made me very happy and I
thank you .
Cordially,
MLZ.
^^^C^:^;
'er/t'ea/i^'M
To Margaret Mitchell, who so graciously consented
to our use of her magnificent book ; who, when even
at the pinnacle of success and fame, had time to be
interested in the Chieftain ; who has willingly co-
operated with us at all times; wbo has taken great
interest and pleasure in our work, we dedicate this,
the fourth volume of the Chieftain.
