- Sells Comments on Dyer's Appointment to Pardons and Parole Board
In this series of WSB-TV newsfilm clips from Atlanta, Georgia on February 2, 1968, Georgia Senator Jack Sells comments on Dr. William R. Dyer's appointment to the State Board of Pardons and Paroles. This clip is divided into two segments, part one and b-roll. Both clips show Jack Sells speaking about Dyer.
Sells: "There's an awful lot of half-truths, rumors, and accusations going around in conversations in the Senate halls and I don't know if they're true or not and I think in just fairness to Dr. Dyer himself that this committee could clear the air and thus restore confidence in the Pardon and Parole Board [sic] because if these things are not cleared up, the people are not going to have confidence in the man or the Pardon and Parole Board, and I don't think it's fair to the man."
The second segment of the clip is b-roll where reporter Jim Whipkey is heard interviewing Sells.
Sells: "I would like to know something about the man, and the only way that I can find this out is if there is an investigation by a standing committee."
Whipkey: "What about the fact that he's a chiropractor and also a, quote, consultant?"
Sells: "This is his privilege to make a living the way he seems to see fit but..." [clip ends]
