Georgia Department of Labor schedules veterans job fair in Americus
ATLANTA State Labor Commissioner Michael Thurmond said today that the Georgia Department of Labor's Americus Career Center and the local American Legion will cosponsor a job fair for employers, veterans, and other job seekers in the area.
The event will be held Tuesday, June 26, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the American Legion Post 558, located at 116 Georgia Highway 30 West in Americus.
Commissioner Thurmond said, "This job fair is designed to bring employers and organizations in the Americus area together with veterans and other job seekers who are looking for employment or career guidance. Job seekers will receive cutting edge information on job search, career planning, and other valuable services to help them reach their full workplace potential."
The event will feature about 20 employers that will be hiring to fill current job openings. In addition, other employers will be discussing possible future employment opportunities with the job seekers, while other organizations will be providing educational and other resources. Applicants should bring plenty of resumes and be prepared to fill out company applications and interview for available job openings.
Among the employers expected to participate in the event include: Ambassador, City of Albany's government, Columbus Police Department, Columbus 911, Customer Stage Services, Georgia Army National Guard, Magnolia Manor, National Motor Club, Northrup Grumman Technical Services, Primerica Financial Services, Tahitian Noni International, the Staffing People, Tyson-Oglethorpe, U.V. Finish, and Well Care.
